St Fillan’s Cave is the exciting location for this popular Festival event, which Pittenweem Library revived in 2022. Costumed characters tell the stories, with added songs and fun activities. The surroundings and atmosphere of the Cave are a key attraction for the children, enhanced by spooky lighting. (See full timetable at the bottom of the post.)
Juice and biscuits are offered on the way out. Tickets, price £2 per child, are available at the Library, the Festival Office and on the door in Cove Wynd.
Performances will take place on Saturday 1st, Sunday 2nd, Monday 3rd, Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th August. We invite ages 3-5 to come at 2 pm and ages 6-10 at 2.45 pm. Each session will last about 25 minutes.
Local storytellers perform the stories. For 3 5-year-olds, there will be ‘Moira and the Cakes’, ‘Monkey Puzzle’ and ‘Burglar Bill’. 6 -10-year-olds can enjoy ‘Peter and the Wolf’ and ‘I Spy Smugglers’ – specially written and performed by Jane and Graham Forbes.
