Autumn 2024 – Wonderful series of talks

We have had a wonderful line up of speakers, with a wide variety of interesting subjects. The final talk of the season is Thursday 28 November when Professor Tony Prave will talk about how the study of Scottish rocks has revolutionised our thinking about the history of the Earth in deep time.

Hallowe’en Raffle

Local artist and author, Caroline Blacker, carved a very special Hallowe'en pumpkin for the winner of our raffle. Halloween Craft Workshop

Our annual craft workshop for Halloween will be on Thursday 17 October between 10.00am and 12 noon. It is for children at primary school (P1-P7). Record birthday raffle total – Thank You!

The total money raised from the library’s 7th birthday raffle was £643 – amazing! Our best ever. A huge thanks to everyone who donated prizes and bought tickets to support the library. The sunny and warm day for our birthday party may well have helped!

New lease of life for the library!

In an exciting new chapter, trustees signed a 20year lease in June 2024 that will give the library security for the future. Joyce Laing – An Extraordinary Life

Joyce Laing, well known here in Pittenweem, was an artist and a pioneer of art therapy. Over many years she worked with psychiatric patients and long-term prisoners using art to support them in their rehabilitation.
