A very successful few months

Between October and December the library traditionally runs events that allow us to keep the library services free of charge to all who use them. We have to raise funds to pay for rent and utilities and we have to buy books! Our autumn series of talks in October and November and the Christmas Raffle in December were our major fund raising events of the season. We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge THANK YOU to all of the people who helped us with these events – contributors to the raffle, speakers at our talks, volunteers and trustees who pull all of these events together and of course to the local community of library members, supporters, neighbours and friends.

We had a wonderful line up of speakers, with a wide variety of interesting subjects. One time Pittenweem milliner Alex Muir was interviewed in front of a full to capacity crowd. In fact each talk was pretty much a sell out with around 90 tickets sold for each date. Christopher Rush was reminiscing about growing up in the East Neuk and the influence that had on his writing. Allan Little provided great insights into his time as a Special Correspondent for the BBC and his time spent on war zones around the world. And finally, Professor Tony Prave explained how the study of Scottish rocks influenced thinking about the history of the Earth in deep time. Thank you everyone for raising a wonderful £2,178 from these talks.

The now traditional Christmas Raffle was again a great success. We are always lucky to get some great prizes from local businesses and from our supporters, members, volunteers and trustees. Thank you to all of these people for helping to raise £547 to add to the Library’s income for the year.
