Autumn 2024 – Wonderful series of talks

We have wonderful line up of speakers, with a wide variety of interesting subjects. The first talk was a great success, so grab your tickets for the remaining talks.

Thursday 17 OCTOBER – AN EVENING WITH ALEX MUIR – after 62 years in the Millinery trade, 40 of them in Pittenweem, Alex Muir has agreed to give an interview.  SOLD OUT!

Thursday 31 OCTOBER – FROM PRAM TO PROSPERITY – A NEVER ENDING EAST NEUK JOURNEY – Christopher Rush, Writer and Educator

Christopher Rush shares his reminiscences about growing up in St Monans and the powerful influence of the East Neuk on his writing, especially his early books: Peace comes Dropping Slow and A Twelvemonth and a Day, on which the film Venus Peter was based.

Thursday 14 NOVEMBER – WHICH WAY TO THE WAR? – Allan Little, BBC News Special Correspondent

Allan Little has been a trusted and authoritative voice at the BBC for more than 30 years.  During that time he has specialised in foreign reporting. He was in Prague in 1989 when the Soviet regime collapsed and became Moscow correspondent in the late 1990s. He has reported from war zones in Kuwait, Afghanistan, Bosnia and Iraq among others – in his own words, ‘Information is part of the war effort.’

Thursday 28 NOVEMBER – DEEP TIME EARTH HISTORY AS SEEN THROUGH SCOTTISH-COLOURED GLASSES – Professor Tony Prave, geologist and Earth historian

Scotland’s unique geology is recognised and envied worldwide. Tonight’s talk will focus on how the study of Scottish rocks has revolutionised our thinking about the history of the Earth in deep time.
