Evening talks – a great success

The Autumn Evening Talks season of 2021 was another great success for the Library and for the community. Each of the 5 talks was sold out and the total added to our funds was a fabulous £1,300.

The trustees want to say a huge THANKS to Sue Chesterton who arranged the series, finding the most amazing speakers, getting dates in their diaries, and managing each event in the Coastline Community Church.

We also want to thank our speakers! A set of wonderful, entertaining and educational talks on a hugely diverse set of subjects. Thank you to them for giving us their time and helping us to keep the library open and free for all of the community and visitors to use.

A reminder of our talks this season:

  • Richard Bates from St Andrews University – Hidden Places: Geophysics Unlocking the Remains of the Past
  • Alistair Michie, Chairman of the International Board of the leading independent think tank in China – the Centre for China and Globalisation – China: Friend or Foe?
  • Christian Moire, Director of Operations at V&A Dundee – V&A: The Story So Far
  • Dr Bess Rhodes from St Andrews University – Ransacking and Confusion? The Reformation Crisis in 1559 in North- East Fife
  • An Evening with Val McDermid

And most importantly we’d like to thank our volunteers, members, supporters and friends who bought tickets and came along to support the speakers and the library and helped us raise this fantastic sum of £1,300, a huge contribution to our target for the year of £5,000.
