I am presently laughing myself to sleep with The Penguin Book of Irish Comic Writing, selected and produced by Ferdia MacAnna. It includes over forty short stories, with something to meet almost everyone’s taste in humour.
I was delighted to find one of my lifelong favourites, Spike Milligan. I also found many that are familiar: Joyce, O’Connor, Beckett, Behan, Leonard, Binchy and Doyle, as well as discovering new ones. I do like a good gut laugh.
I would appreciate hearing of anyone else’s comic selection.
